Costco represented Sycle PRO's largest enterprise retail account—a partnership whose scheduling model diverged sharply from every other clinic type on the platform. Getting this wrong risked more than a clunky workflow: it risked the retail partnership itself, and it set the precedent for how future enterprise accounts would be onboarded.

By pioneering an AI-augmented prototyping pipeline with agentic frameworks (Devin), I bypassed traditional frontend engineering bottlenecks to spin up live, production-grade responsive environments. Delivering enterprise healthcare scheduling meant balancing rigid corporate constraints, scarce engineering resources, and a hard clinic go-live date — trade-offs that shaped what shipped first and how we preserved the core clinical experience across all three pillars.

What Engineering Called Impossible

The engineering team initially flagged a unified calendar that could simultaneously honor Costco's rigid Dedicated Schedule Block rules and regular clinic booking logic as infeasible within the existing legacy framework. I pivoted the design to a modular block-overlay architecture that isolated Costco-specific rule parameters into configurable schedule layers, allowing the same calendar surface to serve both enterprise retail and standard clinical workflows without a full backend rewrite.

MVP Cuts & Phasing Strategy

To hit the launch window, we deprioritized AI-assisted features and accelerated planning for referral management for the initial release. Alongside product, I helped phase the roadmap by clinical impact: smaller modular enhancement updates from the calendar redesign and Costco DSB support shipped first because they unlocked daily operational efficiency; the referral management feature and the larger scheduling redesigns were queued as follow-up releases tied to adoption metrics and integration readiness.

AI-Augmented Prototyping Trade-off

I used Devin to generate live, clickable referral prototypes from markdown directives—compressing weeks of design-to-review into days. The trade-off was fidelity: the agent got the interaction model and workflow logic right, but needed disciplined cleanup on layout regressions, accessibility, and edge cases. I held the line on user-facing decisions and let the AI handle structural boilerplate. That choice gave us executive-ready demos faster, but the output stayed a decision artifact, not production code.
